I am sick. As I said on Facebook, the way I am whining you would think it were the Plague, but it is just a cold. Not even a bad one, as colds go, but for some reason this particular cold has kicked my ass.
I have spent most of my time either in bed watching tv (what a waste!) or on the couch with the laptop. I have found some interesting blogs and articles that I can't wait to share with you, so that is a plus!
Yesterday we had the storm of the century and actually got a descent amount of snow. Not snow by northern standards, but snow of biblical proportion for the south.
This was taken early in the morning. It snowed all day. You can't even imagine how pissed the ducks and geese are. This is where ducks and geese fly to get away from this crap.Of course, today most of the snow was gone and it was 55 degrees. Unfortunately, that meant that every idiot that didn't get to shop yesterday was out today - and I ran out of decongestant so I was one of those idiots.
As a side note, whoever invented Suphedrine is a god. I can totally see why people want to snort it. (Is that what they do with it? I am a little behind on my drug culture references... all I know is that when I buy it they card me and say it is because people use it to get high.) Anyway, I am currently surviving on Zicam, Suphedrine and hot coca.
Here is a picture my friend Susan took yesterday of Ethan and I. Yes, we were as cold as we look. Ethan had tried to sled down a hill on a tote lid, and had a snowball fight with Susan's daughter and husband. I stood out of the way snapping pictures and freezing. The boys have been in charge of food for the last few days, and have been doing a pretty good job.
Tonight is rice pasta with meat sauce (ground turkey and canned sauce) and the apple crisp type stuff I make.
Last night was gf Mac and cheese and quesadillas (cheese with a side of cheese, please)
The night before Marty was home and made herb roasted chicken and some side dishes I can't remember.
Monday, Marty has to have some pretty extensive oral surgery and will be off work for at least 3 days. I can imagine he isn't going to want to eat, so we stocked up on chicken broth, Gatorade and potatoes to mash. I am also thinking jello and some beef broth just for variety. Any other ideas?
Well, I am off. The boys and I are going to watch the Back to the Future we TiVoed earlier today.

oh no-hate to hear about the hubby's surgery-I know when I had some stuff done (gum graph)-it was such a hard recovery....yeah they just passed a new law about cold meds with that in it-now we have to have a prescription for it in MS (at least we will this summer)--I have chronic sinus crap so I know what you mean it's wonderful! ;) can't wait to see what blogs you found-been looking around for some new one myself.... hope you're feeling better.....
I love the pic of you and Ethan!
pudding!
I hadn't heard about the cold meds law, Julie. Maybe I should stock up now? I'm sure that won't raise suspicion at all, right? lol
Thanks Glenn! I was kind of shocked to see how much taller Ethan is than me. He loves to rub it in, and of course I knew he was too damn tall, but seeing a picture of it made me feel really, really short!
I suggested pudding Dana, but Mr. lactose intolerant thought it was a bad idea. For some reason ice cream isn't a bad idea, but pudding is. lol
